Spyder goes auto

The Can-am Spyder SE5 is a semi-automatic drive version of the three-wheeler from BRP, the Quebec manufacturer.

An electronically-controlled, sequential transmission with five forward gears and one reverse is shifted by means of a button on the left handlebar. There's no clutch lever, as the centrifugal clutch engages automatically with engine speed. The transmission can also shift automatically.

In other respects, the SE5 is similar to the standard three-wheeled Spyder, and it uses the same 998 cc V-twin that puts out 106 hp at 8,500 rpm (77 lb-ft torque at 6,250 rpm).

The price, however, is $1,500.00 higher than the standard, at $20,499.00 Cdn.
