Shiver makes it to Canada
The 750 cc Shiver
that was first seen in 2007 in Europe, will hit Canadian showrooms sometime in 2008, according to importer Canadian Scooter Corp.
The
Aprilia Shiver is a naked bike with a 90-degree V-twin motor. The frame combines some
steel
trellis work with aluminum castings, with a side-mounted rear shock.
USD forks and radial-mount front brake calipers all look the business.
At a claimed 189 kg, the thing should be a quick little ride. MSRP is
$10,995.

RXV came in last year but is now street legal for 2008.
Aprilia's
SXV and RXV models will be equipped for street duties in Canada FOR 2008.
Powered by a
radical 450/550 cc V-twin engine, the SXV (supermoto) 5.5 will
retail for $11,995 and the 4.5 for $10,995, and the RXV (dirt) 5.5
will go for $11,795 with the smaller 4.5 model retailing at $10,795.
Upgrading the bikes for street use has seen a cost hike on some
of the models, but the SXV 4.5 holds the line at the 2007 price. Well done SXV 4.5!

V-twin-powered FV2
The FV2 is a radically-designed
high-performance concept superbike powered by a 1200 cc, 90-degree V-twin adapted from the 750 cc Shiver.
A carbon
fibre chassis integrates the airbox in its hollow members, and
carbon fibre is also used in the parallelogram-type front suspension,
which is adapted from the company's 250 GP racer. Dry weight benefits
from the superlight material, at a claimed 160 kg.
Electronics are used extensively,
controlling throttle and traction systems, ABS brakes, and
suspension. The instrument panel can be plugged into a PC for
Internet uploads and will enable GPS, mobile phones, and more.
Availability in Canada is possible, but you won't see it before 2009 (assuming they actually build it of course).

SMV750 supermoto
The SMV750 supermoto takes its chassis and V-twin motor
from an upgraded version of the firm's Shiver naked bike (now in Canada).
An electronic
throttle, USD Showa forks, radial front brake calipers, wave rotors
front and rear, a new cast-aluminum swingarm, and underseat exhaust make a tidy supermoto.
As with the SV2 protobike, we're likely looking at 2009 before Aprilia sends it to Canada – if at all.
