Underslung exhaust, stubby nose fairing, high seat, tubular bars and lots of angular attitude — that would be the Duke of KTM.
As with its 654 cc stablemates, His Dukeness is powered by the smooth and torquey single that KTM calls the "most powerful ... street-legal single of all time."
It's slung from fully-adjustable WP suspension bits, stopped by Brembos and driven through a six-speed gearbox. Unlike its stablemates, it's intended purely for the street, where its 148.5 kg weight and 65 hp should provide ample entertainment.
Canadians can buy the Duke in white only, for a suggested $10,498.00. Watch for the Duke to make his royal appearance in May.

For 2008, the 690 SM (Super Moto) will only be available in the new R format, which is not much different from the standard SM except for more aggressive styling, and orange frame and five-spoke cast wheels.
You might expect more muscle in an R version, and you'd be right to expect that, but you still won't get it: 65 hp and 65 Nm of torque is the same as the standard SM.
The Super Moto R retails for $10,298.00.

Just about all that separates the 690 SMC from its kissin' cousin 690 Enduro is the name and the wheels. Okay, the suspension's been tweaked a tad as well as the gearing, but otherwise it's a 690 Enduro given the classic SM treatment.
With 17-inch wheels front and back, the SMC slings its saddle 10 mm lower, at 900 mm, and it packs an extra kilo of weight over it's sibling's – but at 139.5 kg without gas, it's still a feather weight.
Also, being an adaptation of the 690 Enduro means that it'll also be relatively easy to convert back to dualie use – a set of Enduro wheels and tires should do it!
MSRP is $9,898.00 – that's a $100 up on the Enduro but $400 less than the Super Moto R. The SMC will be available in Canada in June.

This is KTM's first dual-sport use of the new 690 LC4 engine that already impresses in the new Duke model and thankfully lacks the vibrations of the old 640 mill.
The chassis is different from the earlier models, both frame and swingarm being based on the factory's Dakar Rally entries.
WP forks and rear suspension keep the suspension all quality but huge travel translates to a very tall seat height of 910 mm (35.83"). 21" front and 18" rear wheels allow for wide choice of off-road rubber and a claimed dry weight of 138.5 kg (305.4 lbs) means it should be a lot of fun in the dirt.
The 690 Enduro will hit Canadian showrooms in May with a retail price of $9,798.

There is nothing shy about the Super Duke R, a bike that combines high performance with the pointed aesthetics of a switchblade.
The 999 cc LC8 V-twin pumps out 130 hp, up 10 from the "standard" Super Duke power-plant, thanks to a new piston, larger valves, faster flowing head and an Akrapovic exhaust manifold.
Otherwise, it's similar to the "standard" 990 Super Duke, but with a single seat, sharper geometry (a steeper rake angle on the fully-adjustable WP forks and a shorter wheelbase), and a steering damper as standard. Oh, and let's not forget that bright orange frame!
MSRP is $17,598.00, $700.00 up on the standard Super Duke.

KTM made some improvements to its big supermoto and came up with the 990 SM.
Like KTM's other big twins, the 990 uses the LC8 motor and has an increase in displacement to 999 cc. With the addition of fuel injection, power has been bumped to a healthy 115 hp.
Sadly, it will not be brought into North America for 2008, but the carbureted 950 Supermoto can still be found in some dealerships.

Concept Stunt by KTM
Mitterbauer H.
KTM showed a concept bike at the Paris
innovations fair, the Mondial de deux Roues, that should bring joy to
the hearts of hooligans everywhere.
The 690 Stunt appears ready for
riding on the wrong side of the law – or, preferably, on closed
courses – with a tail bar to protect the bike during extreme
wheelies, heavy-duty WP forks, lots of engine guards, and an
underseat exhaust that won't get mangled in a fall.
It's powered by
the new 690 cc single-cylinder engine seen in other models. Other
features include single-sided swingarm, and wheel guards to protect
fork sliders and brake components. A single disc brake
resides up front and out back.
It's a concept bike, so the absence of
mirrors, instruments and other paraphernalia doesn't necessarily mean
it won't be street legal, but there are no current plans for production.
Still, a hooligan can dream ...

KTM's production version of
the 1190 RC8 superbike is equipped with an 1149 cc motor that pumps out a claimed 155 hp.
The RC8 gets a steel trellis frame with cast aluminum subframe, USD
forks, radially-mounted Brembo calipers acting on 320 mm discs up
front,
and a double-sided swingarm. Wet weight is claimed to be under 200
kg.
The RC8 will be available in two colour
schemes, orange, and white-and-black. The bike will likely find its way here in 2009.
