Although an early release (last spring, in fact) the 675 is still a 2008 model by Triumph’s reckoning, so here it is.
What at first glance is merely a Daytona 675 sans bodywork, with a ‘retuned’ engine (uh, oh!), and with less expensive suspension bits has turned out to be one of those subline machines that is much more than the sum of its parts (last one along these lines might be Suzuki’s SV650).
Blindingly fast, of course, but also remarkably user-friendly, the 675 Street Triple has proven remarkably fast on the track, remarkably easy to live with, and a remarkably effective street ride. Light weight (only 166 kg, or 367 lb) and a big 44 ft-lb of torque from 3,500 rpm to the 12,300 rpm redline explain a lot of that.
MSRP is $9,999.00.

For
2008 the Rocket III will also be available in touring format with
such open-road necessities as detachable hard bags, quick disconnect
screen, slimmer tank, twin exhausts, and a large, single headlight.
But that’s not all that’s been changed: there’s a new frame, wheels
(narrower) and suspension (standard instead of USD forks, and revised twin
rear shocks). The riding position has also been modified for long
distance comfort.
MSRP is $19,999.00 and it should be available early 2008.
