Kagayama on his Alstare Suzuki claimed the fastest time, just pipping
Troy Bayliss on his Xerox Ducati by a 10th of a second.

Dakar called off

have marked the 30th Anniversary of the Dakar Rally. Instead, and for the first time since
its inception in 1978, this year will go down in history as the first
time the Dakar was cancelled.
