The Moto GP season is off to a terrific start, with rookies up front, new bike and tire combinations coming good (or not), and good close racing down the field in spite of the oddness of racing under the lights at 11 p.m. local time in Qatar.

AMA tosses pro racing

During Daytona Bike Week, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced that it has entered into an agreement in principle to sell the sanctioning, promotional and management rights for its AMA Pro Racing properties to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG), based in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Daytona 200 a circus

With five manufacturers in the top six positions (unheard of!), a first-time winner, and the requisite strategy, normal amounts of disappointment and heartbreak, and even some decent racing, you'd think the 67th running of the Daytona 200 would have been an excellent event.

Bayliss wins double at home

Ducati rider Troy Bayliss enjoyed a spectacular island getaway on the weekend, winning the Australian double-header in World Superbike as competitors followed him like groupies chasing a superstar in both rounds.
