Trippin' on the Isle

sm_dukevideo.jpg

Duke Video has released "Isle of Man TT 2009" with 14 minutes of slow-motion race footage. It might seem contradictory to watch motorcycles going fast slowly, but the footage is set to flute music that gives it that airy, kung-fu feeling you want when you watch motorcycle racing.

With bikes pulling wheelies, getting both wheels off the ground, and rubbing body parts on pavement, the slow-mo hi-def blu-ray image does more than ruin English spelling, it shows in nearly touchable detail what kind of punishment these motorcycles take, and what kind of skill it takes to ride them. Kind of puts new meaning into the expression "wax on, wax off," but then, after watching 3:26 of movie trailer on the Duke site, you'll be asleep, so you won't find out how this movie ends.

If you don't want to take our word for it, buy the disc from dukevideo. Then let us know who won.

World's fastest rode a Guzzi

A Moto Guzzi rider has been ticketed for going 616 km/h per hour by Italian police.

On Oct. 10, Paolo Turina received a fine for the offence in his mailbox in the province of Lecco.

Police admitted the speed assessment was a technical error committed by one of their famously accurate speed cameras.

A photocopy of the ticket now hangs in a local Guzzi shop, proving that nothing touches the Guzzi once it gets rolling.

H.O.G. rally features hubble-bubble

sm_hog-bahrain.jpg The largest-ever gathering of motorcyclists in Bahrain will take place Nov. 11 - 14 at the Al A'ali Mall when the Kingdom hosts the Middle East Harley Owners Group rally.

Bahrain H.O.G. deputy director Hani Al A'ali said the event "traditionally attracts hundreds of enthusiasts from around the world."

"The Middle East H.O.G. Rally could well be, after the Formula One race of course, the largest international motoring event to hosted in Bahrain," Al A'ali said.

The event kick off will feature sword dancing, folklore, live cooking, and homemade bread and hubble-bubble.

He does it with kittens

sm_spiesmethod.jpg Understanding how WSB champion Ben Spies wins so many races is crucial if you're going to defeat him.

But as Spies explains in this video, there's more than simple communication between man and motorcycle at work here.

The Spies method for going fast is special, but with enough practice, even you could do it. Imagine, racing with Spies around Donington Park.

Just don't think of the whale.

And for a little extra fun, watch four Yamaha MotoGP stars at their day jobs. Sympathize with Lorenzo when he says "Why I have to be the janitor? I don't want to be the janitor." And when Colin Edwards complains that it's "always bittersweet, having to leave Yamaha and go racing again," you completely understand.
