Storm clouds gather ...
Race City is closing this fall and we're left without a venue for racing in Calgary. Damn, just when I
discovered how much fun track days are (thanks Brad Gavey!). Oh well,
there's always street racing ....

Yes,
it is indeed unfortunate. Over the last 5 years of going out for the
Superbike Nationals I have seen the rampant industrial encroachment on
the property. Seeing as Race City was built on a dump, and the land
itself is owned by the city, it will be curious to see what's going
there in its place.
One can only hope that some far-sighted entrepeneur sees the value
in a motorsports facility in Western Canada, be it Edmonton, Calgary or
somewhere in B.C. Since the demise of Westwood many years ago its been
a tough deal for all Western Canada gear heads.
The flip side of all this - Brett McCormick came out of that
hotbed of motorcycle roadracing Saskatoon, so where there's a will
there's gonna be a way ...
