RALLIES AND BIG EVENTS
The Sportbike Rally July 4-6 Parry Sound, Ontario
The first and best sportbike rally, this event on the shores of Georgian Bay has been abandoned, adopted, cancelled, and re-adopted. But the roads around Parry Sound are fantastic, the country is gorgeous, and sportbike-baby's new parents are dedicated motorcyclists, including Lawrence Hacking. It should be worth the $20 entry fee.
Bluenose Rally July 4-6 Coldbrook, Nova Scotia
This is one of the east coast's premiere rallies, 38 years old now. It's put on by the Apple Valley Riders, and a beautiful location, great down-east food, field events, entertainment, a parade, and an awards brunch are included for your $50 entry fee.
Ride to Work Day July 16 Everywhere
Aerostich founder Andy Goldfine created this annual event, which is intended to demonstrate the importance of motorcycles in modern society. It's a U.S. thing, but that's no reason not to ride your bike to work on Wednesday, July 16 in Canada too.
BMW Motorrad Summerfest July 18-20 Mosport, Ontario
It's a double header round of the Superbike series and BMW have gone and made it into a mini festival with test rides, bands, skills challenges and market place. Cost is $50 (plus $5 service charge). Tickets include camping, parking, parade lap (BMW bikes only) and entry to see all the other races to boot.

CVMG Ponoka Rally July 25-27 Ponoka, Alberta
This Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group event is both a provincial and a western national rally, and this year's theme is "Celebrating 60 years of Honda," so dust off that old 305 Dream in the garage. Show & shine, Saturday barbecue, swap meet, and more, at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds, where the camping and showers are free. Registration is $30 before July 15 and $40 after.
Sou'Wester International Bike Rally July 25-27 Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
This third annual Sou'Wester is a growing thing, largely because of the variety of events: a geocache ride, bikini bike wash, high speed runs, a timber show, stunts, and lots more, all at the Yarmouth Airport. See website for more. Cost is $10, or $30 for a family weekend pass.
