Buell's 1125CR cafe racer loses the fairing but still has issues with the air scoops.

NEW 1125CR STREETFIGHTER

The second new model using the new Helicon Rotax 1125 engine has arrived with the introduction of the 1125CR.

The bike is "my vision of a 21st century café racer," said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company. "It's got clubman-style bars and a flyscreen instead of a fairing. Then we geared it down [about eight per cent] to optimize acceleration."

MSRP is $12,599.00

1125R GETS UPDATES 

The original 1125R, also powered by the 146-hp Helicon Rotax 1,125 engine, gets new body and wheel colours and tinted windscreens for 2009. Also new are targeted fuel injectors, relocated O2 sensors, and updated engine spark and fuel maps, all of which is said to improve drivability below 6,000 rpm, throttle response, heat management, and fuel economy. The updated engine spark and fuel maps will also be made available for 2008 1125R models.

MSRP for 2009 is $12,919.00.

AIR-COOLED XB RANGE SEE UPDATES TOO 

Ulysses returns for sport touring

The XB12Ss and XB9SX Streetfighters continue with the versions of the air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm V-Twin. Both models get a new look from a blacked-out frame, forks, engine and other components.

The XB12Ss gets the latest Buell ZTL2 front brake with four-pad, eight-piston caliper and the same supermoto-inspired suspension as the 2008 XB12STT. A new seat on the 2009 XB9SX lowers the seat height by 1.3 inches to 30.1 inches.

The Firebolt XB12R gets the blacked-out look and the eight-piston Buell ZTL2 front brake, plus high-performance Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tires.

The sport-touring Buell Ulysses XB12XT and Ulysses XB12X both return for 2009, as does the Ulysses Police XB12XP as a "special duty" motorcycle intended for government agencies and private security firms requiring a pursuit-and-patrol vehicle capable of travel over a variety of road surfaces.

All 2009 Buell XB models will also be fitted with a new, more durable Veyance Hibrex drive belt.

STRANGLED AND DUMPED IN A LAKE 

The Lightning XB12S and Lightning Super TT XB12STT will not be produced for 2009.
