H-D parties hearty in T.O. Print E-mail

Harley-Davidson's 105th birthday celebration in Toronto was a true biker party with everything essential except for good beer, according to one CMG regular and winner of the CMG ticket giveaway.

Rui Pita is heading to Milwaukee this week for the official Harley-Davidson birthday party and a Bruce Springsteen show, but he says the Toronto shindig on the weekend was a good warmup for the real thing.

"Old and new bikes, black t-shirts, cleavage, bandanas and leather chaps mixed in well with a surprisingly diverse mix of age groups and sexes. Maybe it was the music line up, which were obviously booked to appeal to all," he says.

Entertainment included local bar bands, the ladies of Coyote Ugly, Oshawa band Rides Again, and headliner David Wilcox. "Wilcox was in fine form, gesturing and contorting himself with the enthusiasm of a six-year-old. It was somewhere in between "Do the Bearcat" and "Laying Pipe" that the night took on the complexion of a biker party, with plenty of awkward dancing and the odd reefer being passed around."

Although the "only blight on the night was the sole brand of lousy American beer that was available," Pita says that didn't ruin the fun. "Harley once again proves that it sure knows how to throw a fine party," he says.

H-D birthday parties were also thrown in Montreal and Winnipeg, precursors to the big Milwaukee event.
