A Canadian motorcyclist lay in a California drainage culvert for a week or longer before his body was discovered by a California Department of Transportation worker.

Raymond Jack Taylor, 58, of Whitehorse, was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson north on Highway 101 in northern Mendocino County, when he apparently ran off the road in a left hand curve.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Taylor went onto an asphalt shoulder, then continued onto a dirt and gravel section and finally ran into some bushes, where he fell off the motorcycle.

He was wearing a helmet, but he landed in a concrete drainage culvert and his Harley landed on top of him. He was not visible to traffic, and a deputy coroner said he had crashed a week or more before his body was found on Aug. 21.
