Buell's 1125CR cafe racer loses the fat fairing but still has issues with the air scoops.

The second new model using the new Helicon Rotax 1125 engine has arrived with the introduction of the 1125CR (for Cafe Racer).

Basically it's the 1125R that was released last year, with a smaller fairing and clubman style bars. Dry weight is a claimed 170 kg (375 lbs) with a 146 hp on tap.

The bike is "my vision of a 21st century café racer," said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company. "It's got clubman-style bars and a flyscreen instead of a fairing. Then we geared it down [about eight per cent] to optimize acceleration."

MSRP is $14,219.00 (price hiked December 1, 2008). Oh, and both the CR and R have got revised injection and mapping for better drivability below 6000 rpm.
