TE630 is Husqvarna's big dualie

Husqvarna stree-legal motorcycles arrive in Canada in 2010, distributed by New Brunswick-based Barrett Marketing Group.

There are five four-stroke TE dual-sport models to choose from, four of which are true enduro machines with street gear (like KTM's EXC450 and 530), and one which is a true big-bore dual-sport (like the 690 Enduro).

The TE250, 310, 450 and 510 are the serious enduro bikes with turn signals and mirrors, priced at $8,739, $8,598, $9,544 and $9,889 respectively.

With lightweight, nimble chassis and race-inspired engines, these machines are meant for serious enduro riders who would otherwise transform enduro machines for occasional street use.

The TE630 ($9,465) is a bigger, heavier machine (150 kg/330 lb without fuel), powered by a liquid-cooled 600 cc single, and is aimed at the true dual-sport rider. Aside from slightly different bodywork, the main feature that distinguishes the 630 from the smaller bikes is its dual-muffler setup.

All Husky dual-sports are fuel injected and are adorned with Marzocchi forks, Sach shocks and Brembo brakes.

Supermotards

SMT630 – the big brother of the supermotos.

Joining Husqvarna's dual-sport models are two supermotards.

The $9,998 SMR510 is a higher-strung supermoto based around the TE510 dual-sport, but with firmer suspension, radial front caliper and 17-inch wheels.

This bike will probably serve better as an urban runabout and occasional racer. It has a meagre 7-litre fuel capacity, so long-distance touring is out if the question.

A better bargain for the motard street rider is the $9,775 SMT610. This machine is based on the bigger TE610 model, with the prerequisite motard mods - wheels, suspension, etc. - and it holds 12 litres of fuel.

Like the dual-sports, Husky supermotards are fuel injected.

More info on Husky models can be found here.
