XR1200 Sportster for U.S.A.

U.S. Harley-Davidson dealers have been told to expect the arrival of XR1200 Sportsters by mid-December – a bike that up until now, has been Euro-spec only.

The company told dealers that a first run of 750 of the sportier Sportster in an orange pearl colour scheme would be available for pre-order, just in time for Christmas.

U.S. orders will be taken only until Dec. 15; however, more will become available in limited quantities in 2009, with additional colour schemes of vivid black and denim pewter. U.S. price is just over $11,000.

The XR is powered by a 1203 cc Evolution motor and uses an enlarged air-box and fuel injection with a new exhaust system to increase power and propel it out of the bag. It's also one cool looking cat.

Deeley Harley-Davidson (the Canadian importer) has not yet released information on whether the XR1200 will also becoming north of the border, but we expect to hear about it in the very near future ....
