Erik Buell gets a new job and a Photoshopped happy face.

Just over a month after announcing that Harley-Davidson had killed his young company, Erik Buell is packing up his tools and preparing to run a race shop.

Buell will run Erik Buell Racing in East Troy, Wisconsin. The outfit will produce 1125R Buell race bikes under licence from Harley-Davidson — no street bikes will be made — and will supply racing parts and race preparation services for Buell motorcycles.

In a press release from Harley-Davidson, Buell said he has "some exciting race development projects in the works" and is pleased that Buell motorcycles will compete on race tracks "in the 2010 season and beyond."

Meanwhile, Buell president and COO John Flickinger said he's pleased that Harley is helping Erik Buell establish this company. "Harley-Davidson and the Buell Motorcycle Company will always be proud of their affiliation with Erik, and we wish him well in this new endeavor to support Buell racers."
